Celeb News: Keshia Chante Speaks Out On Not Getting Aaliyah Biopic Role

"I Just Didn't Feel It Was Right"

106 and Park host, Keshia Chante, is finally speaking out about not getting the Aaliyah biopic role. Last month, she posted a Facebook message "the audition" indicating that she was auditioning for the role and had a picture of her looking like Aaliyah.

She finally speaks about not getting the role on her Instagram page basically saying bowed out the movie after her family disapproved the biopic

"Now regarding the Aaliyah film, I just want to say Thank You all for the outpouring of love & support. You guys went so hard!! It’s really touching to know that you root for me! Words can’t even express. But this particular project just wasn’t for me. After learning more about the situation & how the Haughton family truly felt, I just didn’t feel like it was right. But at the end of the day, this is just one, of what will be many movies on Babygirl’s life. So maybe one day, if it’s the right circumstance, timing & I get the blessing, I’ll choose to be a part of something. Until then, keep#Aaliyah’s legacy alive & positive! And support my girl Zendaya who is just living out her dreams & workinghard to do so!"

The role went to Zendaya and ironically she was on 106 & Park announcing the role

Celeb: Aaliyah's former manager and uncle, Barry Hankerson, has come out and spoke to TMZ and reveals that her mother and brother is dead set against the biopic which was announced this past week.

via TMZ

"Aaliyah’s uncle and former manager, Barry Hankerson, tells us the family is pissed that no one from the network contacted them about the movie.
Hankerson says the family will block any attempt on Lifetime’s part to use any of Aaliyah’s music.  He says the family has hired a lawyer and will do everything they can to block release of the flick.
The family is not opposed to a big, theatrical film, but thinks a TV movie is too small for someone as big as Aaliyah"

Disney Star Zendaya Casted To Play Aaliyah In Biopic

Zendaya To Play Aaliyah In Biopic

Celeb: It looks we now know who will be playing Aaliyah in the upcoming biopic which will now air on Liftime. The movie will be filming in July. Necole Bitchie exclusively reports that Disney star Zendaya Coleman has been casted to play her in the biopic.

I'm highly disappointed in this. I have nothing against Zendaya but if you are going to cast someone in a biopic, that person needs to at least LOOK like that person they are playing. Point blank period.

What are your thoughts?

Former Child Star Tristin Mays Shares Her Experience Audioning For Aaliyah Biopic Role

Celeb: You might remember Tristin Mays as a child star. She played Shaina on Nickelodeon's Gullah Gullah Island back in the 90s.

She recently auditioned for the Aaliyah biopic role which is now in pre-production and will air on VH1. Unfortuntely, she did not get the part but she shared her experience on Intsagram describing it as one of he most hardest auditions.

Normally I wouldn’t do something like this. But a very close friend of mine, @loganlaurice, gave me the courage to speak up about something that’s been pending and sitting on my heart. Today, I can’t be upset that I didn’t book the role I worked so hard for. This may have been the most difficult, emotional, inspiring, and lengthy audition process I’ve ever experienced. Getting the chance to portray someone I’ve always loved and admired so much was a blessing every single step of the way. I invested every ounce of my body mind and soul into this process and I can honestly say I’m proud of myself. God definitely has something incredible in store for me. A huge thank you to everyone who believed in me and spoke up for me in the room. And a huge congratulations to everyone in the cast!#TheAaliyahStory. Like Logan said, you’re satisfied no matter the outcome of things that aren’t in your control. -Tristin Mays

We don't even know if a biopic film is even in the works. I highly doubt it, but Solange has finally come forward and said it's just a rumor. She was also rumored to do a Diana Ross biopic as well.

from Concreteloop

That is really a testament to the bad side of the internet. How things can really just surface and people will believe them wholeheartedly. But never ever have I been approached to play either of them in any kind of way.
